Audio/Visual

A/V Staff
The A/V department works primarily behind-the-scenes to ensure convention events look and sound as good as possible. We are responsible for designing, setup, teardown, and operation of all Audio, Lighting, and Video systems used by the convention. This may include overseeing panel room PAs and projectors, assisting panelists with A/V needs, stagehand work for the main room, and FOH operations. While we may stay in the background, our work can be highly visible to attendees, and so attention to detail is very important. General knowledge of professional Audio, Video, Lighting systems, or prior A/V experience is highly desired.

Events

Events Staff

The Events team is responsible for the proper handling of all panels, scheduling, and all attendee events. We do a lot of work pre-con and during con. We are looking for staff to help with the tabletop and video gaming room, as well as staffing the panel rooms. When staffing the panel rooms, you are responsible for making sure the panel starts and stops on time, as well as alerting the department heads if there are any major panel changes that are needed.

Tabletop Gaming Staff

Tabletop events team is in charge of the tabletop game room. You will manage the games, make sure everything in the room is neat and tidy, and that all the games return in one piece. You will report to the Tabletop Lead, Events Lead, and Co-Lead. While manning the room, you are more than welcome to play games as well, we are perfectly okay with this!

Video Gaming Staff

As a game room manager, you will be in charge of all of the consoles in the game room. Your job is to make sure no one takes controllers or games, keep things tidy and neat, and that everyone is having a great time. We have had many systems in this room…. From an OG Virtual Boy and vintage gaming consoles, all the way to Nintendo Switches. Obviously you are more than welcome to sit down and play as well. We may hold a couple tournaments as well, which may require assistance with managing those.

Information Technology

Website Staff
Help maintain HarmonyCon's website. This involves working with our Design and PR teams to add information to the site as things are announced to help keep everything current. Knowledge in HTML, CSS, and Git is necessary, and experience with Jekyll is a plus.

Operations

Con Ops Staff
We're the nervous system of a convention. When a department needs something, that's our cue. Expect to be on your feet and ready for sudden unexpected tasks.

Registration

Con Store Staff
The Con Store sells merchandise related to the convention, at the convention!

Registration Staff
Registration serves as the welcoming committee for all Harmony Con attendees. Our job entails printing and distributing badges, putting together sponsor perks, selling convention merchandise, and addressing attendee inquiries. Registration volunteers play a critical role in first impressions of Harmony Con, so our department is highly customer service-oriented. Prior experience in customer or guest relations is appreciated.

Safety

Safety Staff
The Safety Team help provide a safe and fun environment around the convention. We provide customer service for all attendees and enforce rules according to our Code of Conduct and the venue's regulations. We enjoy walking around to ensure safety for all attendees and the venue.

Vendor Hall

Vendor Hall Staff
Provides support for our vendors and artists in the vendor hall.

VIP Relations

Acquisitions & Logistics
This small team helps to coordinate the appearance of the guests and their transportation to/from HarmonyCon each year by working directly with the guests and their agents before and after the convention. While on site, they help ensure the guests get where they need to go to be at the right place and right time every time.

To volunteer for the Acquisitions and Logistics team you will need to have a valid driver's license and be able to work the Thursday and Sunday of HarmonyCon.

Green Room Staff
This is the team that makes and maintains a home away from home for all of the Guests of Honor. The Green Room is an important place for every convention because it is the place that the guests can go to escape the hustle and bustle of the convention. Here they can rest & relax, socialize with other guests of honor, and even grab a bite to eat.
